Ken Light is a social documentary photographer who has been working professionally for over 40 years. His insightful photos have been featured in books, magazines, and exhibitions worldwide. Ken is also a full time Professor at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California Berkeley and acts as curator for the Center for Photography there.
Ken was first inspired to join the world of photojournalism after his experience at a demonstration in Columbus, Ohio in 1970, the week leading up to the Kent State shootings. As you will hear in the interview, it was there that Ken first realized that photographs have the ability to share stories, tell history, and ultimately connect the world.
