STATEMENT FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PATRICK ROSS RE: Passage of IP Enforcement Legislation in US House

September 29, 2008

WASHINGTON -- We at the Copyright Alliance are pleased that the US House of Representatives Sunday approved S. 3325, an IP enforcement bill that had cleared the US Senate on Friday. As we said then, this legislation will boost the economy, create more jobs, and continue to provide incentives for creators to enrich our culture.

We applaud the House in its bipartisan 381-41 passage of the bill, now renamed the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008 to match the name of the House bill that passed earlier this year by a 410-11 margin.

Clearly the US Congress understands the importance of copyright enforcement, and we look forward to the signature of this bill by the President in the near future. The next Administration will reap the benefits that will come from this new law.
